Today, Cameron Ashmead, the second generation of Ashmead family members, has purchased the Craneford and Greenock vineyards, and has expanded the company’s production to a total of 750 hectares.
After a stint in Saudi Arabia, the Ashmead family returned to Australia. Their son, Richard, has worked in several wine regions. He has a background in the Barossa, Rutherglen, Mudgee, and the South of France. He oversees the winemaking duties at Elderton. Richard Ashmead’s wife, Julie, is a winemaker at the winery, where they have two daughters.
